Nigeria’s Super Eagles Celebrates after AFCON 2025 qualification

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have officially secured their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), qualifying with two matches to spare in the ongoing qualifiers. The Eagles, currently leading with 10 points, ensured their top-two finish after Libya’s unexpected 1-0 win over Rwanda in a Group D encounter held in Kigali. This result leaves both Libya and Rwanda unable to surpass Nigeria’s point tally in the remaining matchday.

The Nigerian team is set to face Benin Republic’s Cheetahs on Thursday in Abidjan before wrapping up their qualifying campaign against Rwanda at home on Monday. The Super Eagles, already three-time African champions, previously reached the final in the last AFCON edition held in Côte d’Ivoire.

The 35th AFCON tournament is scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, where the Super Eagles will aim to lift the continental trophy once again.
